Thrive Hout Bay is an organization that unites Hout Bay through environmental awareness events and action projects.
We encourage every individual to make a difference that will benefit the environment and the community residing in it.
Join us in a journey that encourages communities to see waste as a precious resource, grow local food and vegetables, take care of our water and biodiversity and find energy solutions that work in harmony with nature.
Thrive Hout Bay was founded in 2007 as The 3R’s and formally registered in 2011 as Thrive. As each person is a curator of our community and environment Thrive believes everyone can make a difference. Thrive views adopting sustainable practices as an essential part of having a healthy community and ecosystem. We focus our work in 5 key areas to achieve zero waste, local food production, clean water, energy efficiency and a rich biodiverse environment.
What we do
Thrive educates communities through environmental action focusing on schools and community partners utilizing the 5 pillars of sustainability: water, food, waste, energy and biodiversity.
Mentors, Permaculture growers and experts in the 5 Thrive pillars of sustainability work with schools and communities to focus on increasing renewable sources, protecting and restoring local biodiversity, minimizing waste, reducing energy/water demands and fostering a local food network.
